Help needed for problem with my computer, PLEASE!

My dad was on my computer one day and then the touch pad on my laptop stopped working. So, I had to go out and buy one to do anything with it.
I reinstalled the toushpad and now sometimes my keyboard will just stop typing and freeze up. The touch pad sometimes will go out and the keyboard will go out also.
Now this doesn't happen all of the time, but I would be typing out an email and then it will just stop working, or I can be typing and the the touch pad will go out and I can't get it back up for sometime and I have to plug in the mouse I bought.
HELP, it is driving me mad.

What can be wrong with my laptop and how can I fix it? I have run my anti-virus and nothing really comes up.

My laptop has a button at the top of the touchpad that disables it, so make sure you aren't accidentally pressing that button. I don't know about the keyboard.

Hmm. Not sure.
Have you tried uninstalling the drivers completely, and then doing a hardware scan and reinstalling them?

By the way, what OS is it running?
